My 'forever' damaged fingernail - before & after.

First, this was a chore. My pinky fingernail on my right hand has been what I thought was 'permanently' damaged since age 16. I have always hid it or had my nails painted - so finding a photo that showed the damage was almost impossible. The quality of these photos is not good, but it's the best I could do.

Back story. At age 16 (THIRTY) years ago, when I was in high school, my pinky got slammed between two car doors. Oh it hurt, alright. Now I don't remember a lot about my teen years, but I remember that like it was yesterday. Basically, my nail turned green with blood (I should have had it drained, but refused), my nail died, fell off, grew back & was never the same.

From the top of my fingernail, down the middle section only (along the edges, it continued to grow fine), the nail never adhered to the skin underneath. Therefore, the middle section of my nail was always white, like the fresh part of my fingernail that grows out. It was never pink, or flesh, like normal. There were times it did try to adhere or grow together (I have no idea the technical terms), & part of it would, leaving quite a white 'point' (as you can see in at least one of these photos), but then it would break loose again. Grossly enough, I could stick some sort of object all the way down the middle part of my finger. It grew funky in the middle section, all the way to the middle of my nailbed. That's how far down it went. Sometimes it wouldn't go as far down, but again, it always broke loose & extended down to the middle of my nailbed. *In the second photo, if you look really closely, you'll see a beige color that finishes out the 'box' shape - that's one of the times it was trying to heal itself, but never was successful.





Enter Shaklee. Never did it even cross my mind that Shaklee supplements/products could remedy this (kind of like my armpit rash miracle!). I was so used to my nail being damaged, I don't even think about it anymore. Once you have something damaged for 30 years, it just becomes second nature. I did still hide it, because I was self-conscious about it, but I never even thought it would heal itself. It did.



I guess it was about 2 months ago I noticed my nail was healed. It's normal. Totally normal. The only visible abnormal part is that there is a tiny black speck on the edge of where the damage began. I think you can see that in the last photo. That's it. My nail is beautiful again which I so appreciate, because I have pretty nails & I like them. Shaklee is the absolute only thing that could have healed my nail.

Shaklee's Basic H & Nature Bright to the rescue again!

Yesterday my daughter got chocolate ALL over her shirt. I swear I think she rolled in it. That girl. This shirt is almost brand new & had no stains. Ugh.

Today, I took Basic H & saturated all of the areas. I let it sit for a couple of hours. Then, I filled the washer & added Shaklee's detergent & Nature Bright. I turned the machine on for just a minute or two & then shut it off. For about 2 hours. Then, I ran the cycle.

Tada! Brand new again! I can't tell you how often this combination saves our clothes. No more trashing clothes due to stains!

Why I chose Network Marketing.

First things first -

If Network Marketing didn't work, it wouldn't exist. Note: Network Marketing is also known as 'MLM', which stands for Multilevel Marketing.

Network Marketing has been around for years. Why? Because it works.

It's that simple.

Definition: Network marketing is a type of business opportunity that is very popular with people looking for part-time, flexible businesses. Some of the best-known companies in America, including Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Tupperware, fall under the network marketing umbrella.

Second, let's very quickly address this pesky "pyramid scheme" reputation MLMs typically have. It's silly & I don't even entertain the idea. But this is what I'll say. "Pyramid Schemes" involve no product. The company I partner with has products (amazing, to boot). Most do. Most of the people who scream "pyramid scheme" are possibly the ones who tried it & failed. Network Marketing is not a free ride. It takes work. Many give up & quit before finding success. Or, possibly it's those who have always heard Network Marketing are pyramid schemes & they just go with the flow. A lot of people don't really understand how Network Marketing works, though they think they do. So many people have incorrect information - they are either misinformed and/or uninformed. I don't really know. What I do know is that I absolutely love it.

Moving on.

I've never been involved in Network Marketing before. I worked in my father's business from age 11, I worked at the movie theater at age 15, I worked at the bank at age 18 & I got into the apartment industry at age 21 or so. I was a manager of multiple apartment communities by age 24. I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area & we had a massive hail storm in 1995. I was still at work, alone, & thought I was going to die that night. I already had two distressed properties & when that storm hit & knocked out the majority of residents' windows & tore up my properties further - I was overworked & overstressed. When my husband & I got married, I gave my notice & never looked back. A few years later, I did work briefly for a man who owned numerous commercial & residential properties, but I was part time & he wanted me full time & he kept pressuring me to work full time, so that was the end of that. Soon after, I began researching adoption & spent every waking hour building our family. 11 years later, I found Shaklee. I was a Shaklee customer for months before I became a Distributor. I loved the products that much, I believed in the products & company that much, that I wanted to be a part of it. So I am. And I always will be.

Network Marketing is a tier'd business. But think about it - all businesses are tier'd, unless you're the owner. Do you work? Do you have a boss? Your boss makes more money than you do. Does your boss have a boss? His boss makes more than your boss. And so on & so forth. Network Marketing works the same way. The difference is, we office out of our home(s). And our investment to become self-employed to market the best products available is low. And we make our own hours. And we call all the shots. And we are in control. And we decide how much money we make. Network Marketing is residual income.

Definition: Residual income (also called passive, or recurring income) is income that continues to be generated after the initial effort has been expended. Compare this to what most people focus on earning: linear income, which is "one-shot" compensation or payment in the form of a fee, wage, commission or salary.

Linear income is directly proportional to the number of hours invested in it (40 hrs. of pay for 40 hrs. of work), but one of the great advantages of residual income is that once things are set in motion, you continue making money from your initial efforts, while gaining time to devote to other things... such as generating more streams of residual income.

Network Marketing involves two things: selling product(s) & building teams. Network Marketing is not for everyone & does not interest everyone. And that's totally ok! But for those of us who love it & thrive at it, it works successfully & beautifully. And when one partners with a company as dynamic as Shaklee, well, it just doesn't get any better than that.

Every month, Distributors purchase our own products. These are products we all purchase monthly anyway - we just redirect our spending to purchase Shaklee's phenomenal products, whichever products we desire, instead of at a store. And we have members who purchase & we have retail purchases. This gives ourselves, as well as our upline, points. Our Distributors below us also give us points. We get paid off of points. That's just a quick rundown of how it works.

Ultimately it's this - the more products you sell & the more Distributors you have under you, the more money you make. And can I say - I know a lot of Distributors that make a LOT of money. Again, it works!



I'll end with this:

Shaklee has been in business now 57 years. If Shaklee's products weren't incredible, Shaklee wouldn't be around for 57 years. If Network Marketing didn't work, there would be no such thing. It would have fizzled out years ago. It didn't. It's not going to. Quite honestly with the economy in the shape it's in, it's booming better than ever. Shaklee is, anyway. I am so fortunate I'm along for the ride.

If you're going to invest in Network Marketing, I encourage you to do your homework. There are hundreds of Network Marketing companies. A lot of them are new. A lot of them won't be around for long. A lot of them are scams. I recommend you invest in one that is mature, experienced, ethical, reputable, trustworthy, fair & one that appreciates & treats their Distributors with respect. Do your homework. Do your research. Is the company you're considering just a fad? Will it be gone in a few years? Is it sustainable? Do they offer products you're proud to represent? Everyone, everywhere is looking to get healthier. Whether it be big changes or small, that's not going to change. Everyone wants to live longer! I chose a company that offers products everyone, everywhere uses every single day & always will. A company that won't be gone in a few years. Well, there's 57 years of hard evidence to prove that. Don't just jump in with the first company because chances are, it's highly likely you'll be switching to another MLM company soon.

My laundry products. Every load, every day.

What so many detest, I love. I'm a laundry fanatic. I love doing laundry. Grocery shopping? Not so much.

I am the only person in my family permitted to do laundry. For 6 people, 5 beds, 2 dogs & all the extras. Just me. I am so particular about our clothing & cleanliness, that I just don't allow anyone to help wash. And I like it that way. And I'm pretty confident my family likes it that way. Ha!

I own about 10 laundry baskets. Each evening, when putting on jammies, everyone brings their dirty clothes down for the day. They place them on my washing machine & I then distribute them into the appropriate basket. I wash every color separately (dark blues/blacks, light colored towels/underwear/socks, white t-shirts, dark underwear/towels/socks, pinks, purples, greens, medium blues, reds, grays, browns, etc. Yes, I am that anal!) Clothes are expensive, so I take care of them. And I like for my family to look nice. I take pride in my family dressing nice. It doesn't have to be fancy-smancy, but it does have to be clean & wrinkle-free. That's I why I do all the laundry myself. So, to say I'm just a tad picky with my laundry products would be an understatement.

The photo you see above are the laundry products I use every day. Nothing more, nothing less. Every load, every day. I used to use Borax in every load of laundry, but I stopped purchasing & using that a few months ago. I've never looked back & I miss it none (saving that money is nice, too!). Nothing overbearing, hardly noticeable & no chemicals. This detergent comes in liquid or powder form, scented or unscented. I use the powder because it's less expensive. I ridiculously love it. Oh, one more thing. It keeps my darks, dark! No fading & I just love that fact! (This product is available in small & large size.)

Soft Fabric Fragrance Free Dryer Sheets. These are so cool & so different from traditional dryer sheets. Instead of soft, they have a rough, crunchy texture to them. I toss one in every single load & when the load is complete, I open the garage door & toss it in the recycling bin. They're biodegradable! Love them.

Nature Bright Laundry Booster & Stain Remover. I used to use this product in whites alone, but I now use it in every load, even darks. It freshens every load & is superior in removing stains. I've used it on my carpet, even, to remove a 5 year old carpet stain! I use it on my counters to whiten the grout. I use it any & everywhere I want to whiten & brighten & remove stains. Phenomenal.

Amazing homemade, non-toxic, disinfecting wipes!

Back story quickly - my oldest son suffers severely with allergies. 75% of his allergies are related to the outdoors. About 25% indoors. Nonetheless, when I quit using toxic, chemical cleaners in my home, my sons' allergies improved drastically & for the first time in 12 years, he didn't need medication daily to manage them. He went, literally, months, with no medication! He no longer suffered & for that reason alone, I will never, ever use store-bought cleaners again.

That said - wipes. We use them. With 4 kids & 2 dogs, we need them. Even though I no longer have a baby (sniff), I always continued to purchase baby wipes because they are convenient. But I ran out. We are battling colds, & while out shopping the other night, I picked up some disinfecting wipes & tossed them in my basket. As I continued to shop, I knew it was wrong buying those things. Yes, I wanted a disinfecting wipe this round, but I did not want that horrible, strong, overpowering smell, as well as the chemicals, back in my house. After 20 minutes, I went & put the wipes back & decided I would make my own.

And I did! This is my own process. :)

Supplies:

35 or so paper towels (I only use Walmart brand, white, select-a-size paper towels. Great price & great quality.)
16 oz. of prepared Basic G non-toxic disinfectant/germicide (more information on Basic G at the bottom of this post.)
Container (as you can see, I used an old Target baby wipe container.)

*The reason I chose to use prepared Basic G is because I wanted to be confident the ratio of cleaner/water formula was accurate. Using it already mixed properly, I now know my wipes are effective! No second guessing, hoping I got the ratio correct. Now I know I'm killing germs, without a doubt! You can use any disinfectant you prefer - I suggest you use it in it's 'ready to use' form. If you don't, you are guessing at the formula & there's a possibility you aren't killing any germs/bacteria. Basically, you'd be using cleaning wipes with water & touch of cleaner. I want to know my wipes are effective.



First, I triple folded the paper towels & placed them in the container:





I then took about 1/4 of them out, poured in my Basic G: (Originally, I just poured the solution on top, but noticed due to thickness, the middle & bottom wipes were dry - so I did it in steps.)



Added a few more & poured in Basic G - I did this to ensure all paper towels got wet, then I shook the container to distribute more of the solution:



And then...

Tada!



Tip - I discovered if you triple fold unevenly (similar to baby wipes) - fold the first fold about 3/4 up & then fold the rest over - it will allow you a little flap, in which to grab & pull through the hole.

Tip - I added the entire 16 oz. bottle of cleaner, because the towels are thick & it took a lot. The wipes are just a tad too moist (bonus! Just squeeze the excess out in the sink - it's non-toxic, so it's ok!). Next time I'll try 3/4 of the bottle, instead, & see how that works. Obviously, if you make less wipes, use less cleaner. Shoot for less because you can always add more.



Took me 6 minutes to triple fold 35 paper towels. All together, making 35 homemade, non-toxic, disinfecting wipes took me 10 minutes. 10 minutes! I can't even get to the store, grab wipes, check out & be home again in 10 minutes! Winning! :)

Tomato sauce stain? GONE!

When I washed this shirt, I didn't have time to treat the stain. So I washed it, & dried it, & set the stain. It's a Nike shirt, in great condition, so I didn't want to toss it. Last week I pulled it out, treated it (see below), then left it. For about 4 days or so.



Today I washed it. And look! No stain. Not even a hint that a tomato stain was there! Not a toxic chemical was used to remove this stain. I am just tickled pink. Again!
