Just found this. I withheld the author intentionally.
"If you don't find God in the next person you meet, it is a waste of time looking for him further."
What do you think this quote is actually saying?

Sounds like a quote from someone looking for an excuse not to believe. So sad!
April, that's what we thought too. Notice I left the 'author' off the quote.
I actually found this quote on another blog I was visiting - someone I do not know. Very sad indeed.
I disagree with you both on that one. To me, what that quote is saying is that God is in everyone and everything. God created man, so, when you meet someone, you are not just meeting a person, but meeting another one of God's creations. If you don't "see" that fact, then you will never find, or understand God. To me it's a very powerful and moving quote. People today seem to forget that God is all around us, and they spend their whole lives "searching" for God. In actuality, God is everywhere and in everything around us. God created the flowers in your yard, the wind in your hair, and the stranger in front of you at the grocery checkout line. We, as Christians, must remember that every single thing on this Earth is a handmade creation of God, and must treat all things, and people, as such. You will spend your whole life looking for God when He is, and always has been, right besides us. If you can't see that, then you should stop wasting your time, because you will never "find" God.

Rebecca - ah, very interesting! Mitch & I stared at it for the longest wondering if this quote could be misinterpreted.
I love, love, love what you wrote (right on sister!) & I'll say this - I hope that you are correct! We interpreted the same as April.
Here's the question - how do we know which interpretation is what they desired to get across? Hmm. Just food for thought. And an interesting discussion. :)
I feel like shooting this person an email! Maybe if I dug more into this person's blog I would understand their belief. Maybe not.
It's hard to say what this person intended to convey with this quote. I do think that the emphasis should be on how the reader interprets it, rather than on what the author is trying to say.
Shoot me an e-mail with the blog address if you feel comfortable doing that. I would love to see this one!
Rebecca
